Our Sections

We have 4 active sections

Beavers

Beavers is for children aged 6 to 8. Our Beavers meet on Wednesday evenings during term time, between 6.30pm and 7.30pm. Beavers spend their time playing games, making things, doing outdoor activities, singing, going out on visits, investigating nature and most importantly, having fun and making new friends. If you want to join Beavers, you can contact us at beavers@2ndwhalleyrangescouts.org.uk

Cubs

Cubs is for children aged 8 to 10½. Our Cubs meet every Thursday evening during term time, from 6.30pm to 8pm. Activities include games, making things and developing essential Scouting skills, like navigation, knots, construction, safe fire building as well as cycling trips, hikes and hostelling weekends. If you are interested in Cubs, contact us at cubs@2ndwhalleyrangescouts.org.uk and we will be pleased to tell you more.

Scouts

We have a very active Scouts section, for children aged 10½ to 14. Scouts meet on Wednesday evenings in term time between 7.30pm and 9pm. Evening sessions are very varied, and build on the Scouting skills learnt in Cubs, with sessions on cooking, pioneering skills, safety, as well as activities such as skating. Scouts also go on regular camps throughout the year, including a 3-4 day summer camp. Contact us at scouts@2ndwhalleyrangescouts.org.uk if you want to know more.

Explorers / Chorlton Bees

For young people aged 14 to 18, we have an active Explorers section. Explorers concentrate on developing advanced Scouting skills, and groups are regularly working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Explorers largely develop their own programme, which might be based at the Scout Hut, but may also involve meeting in Manchester and attending other external activities. Contact us on explorers@2ndwhalleyrangescouts.org.uk for more information.

Finding Us

Location

We are located at 7 Egerton Road South, Chorlton, Manchester, M21 0YP. You can see our location on the map below, with main transport links (click the map for a larger version).

Access and Parking

We are located at the end of a residential street, so we need to be mindful of our neighbours. We have good access to public transport, and the Fallowfield Loop runs just behind us, so most people walk or cycle.

If you do need to drive, please avoid dropping off or parking near the scout hut, as it becomes very congested and it is dangerous for the children arriving on foot or bike. Please park on the areas marked on the map below (click for a larger version), unless you have equipment or supplies to drop off.
